I am so excited to announce our hosting a NVC (Non Violent Communication) Retreat by Francois Beausoleil in Hawaii (Big Island) . My needs for joy, contribution, connection, learning, growth, challenge, fun and sustainability may be fulfilled!

If you are excited about learning and practicing NVC in Hawaii!, please come!

I enjoy using my energy and time for creating peace and sustainability, and sharing NVC is my favorite way of doing it.

But I never done organizing in English in the USA. I have done a lot of organizing in Japan, and this is my first trial of organizing a NVC retreat in the US.

How challenging! Just making a flyer is hard for me. I do not know how to do that in English!

“I don't know if you went through a similar experience, but when I started to learn NVC, I was infused with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. In those days, I was driving 4 to 5 times a week from Montreal to Sherbrooke, a 1.5 hour drive, and I had various passengers carpooling with me to help cover the cost of gas. ♪ My Talk@Hawaii Community College: How to reduce your cancer risk with diet ♪ - 27 min 18 sec - 7.1 MB

I gave a talk at Hawaii Community College on their Japan Day event about 311 and Danger of Nuclear Power Plants. I did not have enough time to talk about what you can do to reduce your cancer risk.

And Biannca, my friend from Australia, has sent me this information below, which is what I wanted to say. So, I am posting it here so that you can have it, too. These are very similar to what Gen and I teach in Japan and Hawaii.

*CANCER CELLS FEED ON:

a. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc. are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses, but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in colour. A better alternative is Bragg's Liquid Aminos or sea salt. (Actually, I do not agree! Most people are not aware that Bragg's Liquid Amino's contain a lot of MSG. Because of this I definitely cannot recommend them. Use sea salt or some other high mineral natural salt.)

b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk cancer cells can be starved.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little other meat, like chicken. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C)...

e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer fighting properties. Water-best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines becomes putrefied and leads to more toxic buildup.

13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.

14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor-ssence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the bodies own killer cells to destroy cancer cells... Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body's normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.

15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit.

A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor. Anger, un-forgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life.

16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

No plastic containers in your microwave. (I would rather say, no microwave at all)

The Morning of Oct. 30 in Oakland, Awakening to Living NVC Consciousness

I was crossing the pacific ocean on Hawaiian airline flight 47 to Honolulu as I wrote this. I am so inspired to share what
happened to me that morning on the way to Oakland airport.

From the Quaker Center, where NVC Leadership Program retreat was held for 8 days, Kangs gave me a ride to his apartment in Oakland where I was spending a night. I woke up early that morning around 6 am in his apartment. I noticed I only had less than 4 hours of sleep as I did not go to bed past 2:00am. We had a party at one of the trainer's house with Thai food take out, which I enjoyed so much and I had a conversation with Kangs after we came home until about 1:00am.

After saying good night to Kangs and his roommate, I went to the bedroom I was to sleep and started writing my blog, which I happily report I did that everyday during the retreat (Japanese blog), and then slept.

As I woke up, I was grateful for not only my being alive but also having energy to check my e-mails and even wrote one to this list about the Gems of LP before leaving the apartment.

At 7:30am the alarm went off, which I borrowed from his room mate.

Last night Kangs asked me how long I needed to get ready after waking up. I said, "5 minutes". Then, to be safe, I asked his roommate to set the alarm at 7:30am so that I would have 15 minutes from waking up to leaving.

We talked about how to get to the Oakland airport. I wanted to use public transportation and Kangs and Barbara gave me the information about BART that goes to the airport.

I needed to leave his apartment at 7:45am to catch 8:15am train from MacArther station, which was closest, within 30 minutes' walk. He said he would drive me to the station if he was up, but it did not happen. I was happy Kangs was meeting his need for rest.

We talked about how we wanted to be a "Good Host" and at the same time how he needed sleep. I shared I would use public transportation as much as I could. The reason behind that, which I did not share then, is I am curious to know how people without car travels in any parts of the world I visit. This was my opportunity to learn and experience. I love learning new things.

About 1 minute before leaving, I wrote a thanking note to Kangs on the map he drew last night and left his apartment quietly at 7:15am, with excitement of walking the town I do not know. I had a clear sense of direction to the MacArther BART station from his apartment.

The morning sun was shining just above the roof of the house in his neighborhood and it was so beautiful that I smiled. I felt joy as I started walking the 33rd street to Market street with no one except me on the street. I turned left there, and continued walking to 40th.

I remembered Kang did say, "My neighborhood is not the safest place".

I was curious how safe or unsafe I would feel as I walked.

Approaching the first highway, I noticed a man was sleeping under the bridge. The person was a black man and soon I saw another one, and then another one on the bench in a park. I walked quietly not to wake them up. They had little belongings, most of which I would consider as garbage. I was sad that US, and my country Japan, among the economically richest nations on earth, have people sleeping on the street and I so wanted the world where basic human needs met.

I noticed a black older women walking towards me looking down slowly in her walking device . As we came close, I said "Good morning" to her smiling. She stopped and said "Good Morning" looking at me and smiled back a little bit.

When I came to a big junction, I wanted to make sure if this was the 40th street where I was supposed to turn right. There, I saw another black man waiting for the green traffic light. I approached and asked him, "Is this the way to the BART station?" pointing right. He said "Yes" and I was so relieved and thanked him.

Turning right, I thought the station must be near. According to the map which I did not bring, the BART entrance was along the next highway to the right. So, I looked for the BART sign to the right along the highway, as he said I would see it.

But I could not find the sign.

So, I continued walking, wondering where the BART entrance was, to the next crossing where more buildings and shops were. "That must be the station", I said to myself. There were more people walking, but no BART station.

I stopped walking, looked around and asked another black man walking to my direction, "Where is BART station?". After asking, I noticed that he was talking to someone on the cell phone. In a few second he said "I call you back" and told me "You passed the BART station already" looking at my eyes.

Then he pointed the direction I came from and started walking. I followed him and soon we were walking side by side. I smelled alcohol from him. When we came back to the highway I passed, we turned right crossing the MacArther street, there I saw the BART sign and a structure that looked like a station.

I was relieved when I saw dozens of people coming out of the structure and I was sure this was the station. I was so grateful to the man, who might have been drinking till morning, who accompanied me all the way to the station.

As I thanked him, I noticed the people who came out may have been coming out of 8:15am train which I had planned to take. I may have missed the train, and I knew there was another one in 20 minutes, that would still get me to the Oakland airport in time.

When I was trying to buy the ticket, I did not know how to do so with the credit card (I had little cash left), then, a worker from the station came out and helped me and I got the ticket to Oakland Airport. I asked him if I missed the 8:15 train and he said yes. He asked me where I was going and I said to the Oakland airport. He told me to take the line 2 to Fremont and get off at Colosseum/Oakland Airport, then take AirBart, which was a bus waiting downstairs outside of the station.

When the train came in 15 minutes or so, it passed me. Then I realized it was 3 car train that did not stop where I was waiting on the platform, so I ran to the train. Luckily train did not leave until I was on. In the train, there were mixture of colors of people, but all the people I met on the street were black. The train did not move for another5 minutes or more. I started a bit worried about the time.

I got off at the Colosseum, walked down, got out of the gate, there I saw a bus waiting. "I am almost there" I said to myself.

Got on the bus, I noticed every one in the bus were white men except me. The bus announcement said it will take 12 minutes to the airport.

At the airport terminal, I could not find the Hawaiian airline counter as they were not in the same area as other airlines. I spent another 5 minutes looking for the Hawaiian airline. Finally at the Hawaiian airline counter, the ground staff told me I was too late and the time of checking in had passed already.

To my surprise, I was calm when I heard it. I was already thinking about the next plan.

Then some miracle happened and the Hawaiian airline decided to hold the plane until I was on board. When I was at the security check, it was already 3 minutes to the departure time, which was 9:40am. Passed the security, I ran to the gate 8, accompanied by the staff. I ran as fast as I could and I was so happy I could run like a child.

In my final approach to the aircraft, flight attendants were counting,"5, 4, 3, 2, 1....". I became the last passenger on board and the door was shut upon my boarding.

I walked to my seat, 28G with my heartbeat drumming. I sat down and took "5 deep breath" as written at the door of Kangs' apartment.

And here I am, writing this to meet my need for learning, expression and feedback.

I was so grateful for all the people showed up this morning. Each one I met were helping me one way or another and I am filled with joy and gratitude.

Of course, I felt safe all the time.

10 Years from 911

I would like to tell you that something similar is happening in Japan.

Right now, the facts about Fukushima nuclear power plants' disaster are being hidden from the public so that the government and companies can reduce the amount of money they need to pay out to compensate the victims. They knew that the meltdown occurred right after the 311 earthquake, but they hid it from from us and the world for two months. During those two months the Japanese people in and around Fukushima (in my case I lived 150 miles from it) were exposed to excess radiation. Our government and TEPCO continue to try to make the effect of the damage look smaller and more trivial than what actually is. Our media is the same as in the rest of the world. The truth is distorted to the advantage of the government and corporations.

Today the International Conference on Radiation and Health Risk in Fukushima is being held. Many citizens and citizens groups are challenging the reliability of the conference as they believe it is actually a propaganda event that is being used to support nuclear industry and medical establishment who underestimate the risk of low level radiation, especially internal exposure.

Open Letter of Inquiry to the Organizing Committee for the International Expert Symposium in Fukushima — Radiation and Health Risks

September 10, 2011

Concerning the International Expert Symposium that the Organizing Committee is planning at Fukushima Medical University on September 11 and 12, we have several questions and concerns. Some of them arise from the explanation repeatedly given to the residents of Fukushima Prefecture since the mid-March that exposure to ionizing radiation up to 100 mSv per year represents no harm to the health. The others are related to the evaluation of the Health Examination for Citizens in Fukushima Prefecture, which is to be the main theme of the planned International Expert Symposium.

We consider that the mission of the experts in radiological protection consists in preventing health hazard by minimizing exposure to radiation. However, the document, “An Initiative for the Health Examination for Citizens in Fukushima Prefecture,” says that the purposes of the Examination are “to remove fears among residents of Fukushima Prefecture raised in the wake of the nuclear plant accidents and to secure safety and relief through long-term health management of the residents.” For us, citizens of Fukushima, “safety and relief” can only be achieved when these radioprotection experts fulfil their responsibilities. On the contrary, however, these experts have done nothing but repeat the argument that exposure to radiation up to 100 mSv per year represents no harm to the health.

Also when we find a passage in the briefing document on the said Health Examination that says, “The impact on public health of the accidents at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant can be assumed to be very minor,” we cannot but have an impression that the Examination is conducted under a presumed conclusion, refusing any on-going discussions with specialists with different views. We can only interpret such a scheme as an attempt to evade their own responsibilities. Distrust and discontent are rising among residents of the prefecture and the Japanese public at large. Exposure to radiation is continuing in diverse forms at various locations. Much of the responsibilities for this situation should be assumed by the Japanese experts who are the members of the Committee as well as by the selected foreign participants of the Symposium. It is very unlikely that any views helpful in changing the current situation and promoting proper radioprotection can be obtained from experts from overseas who are designated by the very parties responsible for the current situation. Given such development, we cannot help but concluding that what you are delivering is a make-believe external evaluation, which would only aggravate doubts and fears among residents.

For the reasons given above, we consider that the planned International Expert Symposium is inadequate to scientifically examine the impact on public health of radiation exposure resulted from the disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, or to correctly evaluate the health risks involved and protect the public from radiation exposure.

We hereby convey our view, followed by our inquiry below concerning the Symposium organized by the Committee. Your sincere response to our inquiry will be much appreciated. Please note that this Letter of Inquiry will not only be delivered to the Committee but also be open to the public.

Inquiry

Question #1
Among the participants of the Symposium, there are no researchers reporting that the impact of low-dose exposure on health is greater than the assessment by the International Commission on Radiological Protection. If the International Expert Symposium is committed to studies on the impact of radiation exposure on health, it is essential to raise discussions among experts and researchers with different views. For what reasons are such researchers excluded from the Symposium?

Question #2
Fukushima Medical University Vice President Shunichi YAMASHITA, one of the Committee members, has been giving explanation to Fukushima residents that it is safe to be exposed to radiation up to 100 mSv per year. On the other hand, the Food Safety Commission, Cabinet Office, gives quite a different view that adverse impact is observed when one is exposed to a total dose of 100 mSv over a lifetime. What is your opinion on the huge gap between these two observations?

Question #3
Concerning the number of persons that died of cancer caused under the impact of radiation due to the Chernobyl disaster and the number of cancer patients, there is a significant discrepancy between the IAEA/WHO report (4,000 cancer deaths estimated by the Chernobyl Forum in 2005) and Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, “Chernobyl: Consequences of the Catastrophe for People and the Environment,” (published in 2009; a total of one million deaths caused by various cancerous and non-cancerous diseases, stillbirths, etc.) or many other reports from ECRR, German Radiological Protection Association, etc. How will you explain the gap? We would like to have the view of the Committee good enough to be accepted by residents with fears.

Question #4
There is a passage, “The only illness pinned down related to the accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant is thyroid cancer among children caused by internal exposure to radioactive iodine. No increases of other illnesses have been recognized” (“Purpose and Outline” in the Health Examination document). Are you planning examination of massive studies and reports (e.g., Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, “Chernobyl: Consequences of the Catastrophe for People and the Environment” and German Affiliate of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, Health Effects of Chernobyl, 2010) indicating observations different from the view above? If not, please explain the reasons.

Question #5
Despite the fact that experts and researchers have different opinions, they are not having any debate on the differences. This will lead to increasing concerns among local residents, which is against the purposes of the Symposium. What are the purposes and intent of the Organizing Committee? What are the reasons behind them?

Question #6
In the August 16 press conference, the Organizing Committee announced that you would compile suggestions for removing concerns over radiation among Fukushima residents in general and mothers with children in particular. You say you will make suggestions for eliminating concerns. Why won’t you make suggestions for radiological protection, instead?

Question #7
While being aimed at eliminating concerns among the public, why is the Symposium being held by excluding citizens in general, not allowing their voices to reach?

Scientists from IAEA, WHO, ICPR　are coming to Fukushima and hold International Conference: 9/11 Symposium on Radiation and Health Risks.

On Sept. 11-12, 30 radiation and health experts from 14 countries will gather in Fukushima Prefecture for a Nippon Foundation-sponsored symposium on the health risks faced by Fukushima residents. But the symposium has drawn fire from local residents who note Fukushima citizens will not be allowed to directly attend the proceedings, which are ostensibly being held for their benefit.

Critics of the symposium are concerned about the Japanese participants, who have already indicated the primary purpose of the symposium is to conclude Fukushima is safe. They charge the symposium is merely an attempt by the nuclear power lobby to cover themselves with a fig leaf of international respectability rather than an open and objective scientific debate about the issues. The three speakers oppose the symposium, charging it will make a collective scientific evaluation on health risks faced by people living in Fukushima without any first-hand knowledge of Fukushima citizens, and without civil
society findings.

Fukushima-based Seiichi Natate and Wataru Iwata will address the voices of Fukushima citizens, their efforts to reduce radiation exposure, and the open letter of inquiry being sent to the organizing committee for the International Expert Symposium in Fukushima (September 11th-12th.)

Tokyo-based Kazumasa Aoki will present findings on radiation his organization has conducted including Fukushima children's urine, while Kyoto-based Aileen Mioko Smith will comment on her efforts to appeal to the UN on behalf of the Fukushima victims.

Sellafield High Level Waste (HLW) shipment sails for earthquake region of Japan – a direct threat not only to the people and environment of Japan, but also to en-route communities in the Caribbean and Pacific and their marine environment.

The shipment, which comes less than five months after the devastating earthquake and tsunami hit the Pacific coast of northern Japan, and while the Fukushima-daiichi nuclear meltdown and accident is on-going, left the port of Barrow-in-Furness at approximately 0200 hrs this morning. The cargo of nuclear waste is bound for Aomori, north-eastern Japan via the Carribbean and the Panama Canal.

The vitrified HLW, delivered by rail from Sellafield in three TN28VT transport flasks yesterday, was loaded onto the Pacific Grebe, a British-flagged ship operated by Pacific Nuclear Transport Limited (PNTL). Within the transport flasks were 76 cannisters of vitrified HLW, totalling over 40 tonnes of highly radioactive waste which has been assigned to the Kansai, Shikoku and Kyushu Electric Power Companies in Japan respectively.

Last month CARICOM, which represents the nations of the Caribbean, had demanded a halt to all shipments in a statement condemning ‘as unacceptable and injurious, the practice by the United Kingdom, France and Japan of transporting hazardous waste through the Caribbean Sea, thus risking the very existence of the people of the Caribbean’. The Pacific Grebe, making her maiden voyage to Japan, is expected to arrive in the Caribbean in mid-August, the Panama Canal on 18th August, and its HLW cargo scheduled to arrive in the port of Mutsu-Ogawara around 25th September.

CORE’s spokesman Martin Forwood said today: “It is incomprehensible that whilst Japan, its people and environment continue to suffer daily from the still unfolding Fukushima catastrophe, Sellafield should see fit to add to the country’s woes by sending nuclear waste. This unwanted shipment of the most radioactive material on the planet is also being made in flagrant disregard of the long-standing opposition to such shipments by the Caribbean nations and others en-route. These dangerous transports are wholly unnecessary and must be stopped”.

The high level waste results from the reprocessing of Japanese spent reactor fuel at the Sellafield site in NW England – the process which also recovers plutonium. Under contracts signed in the 1970's and 1980's, Japanese nuclear power companies shipped the waste to the UK and France for reprocessing with some of the waste and all of the plutonium to be returned. The HLW, in glass block form, is sufficiently radioactive to deliver a lethal radiation dose to a person standing within one metre of an unshielded block in less than one minute.

Today’s shipment is the second return of HLW to Japan, the first undertaken early last year when 14 tonnes in one transport flask were returned on the Pacific Sandpiper. Some 15 years late, these waste returns to overseas reprocessing customers were originally scheduled to be made in the mid-1990’s.

A shipment of plutonium MOX fuel was scheduled to leave France the first week of April 2011 for Japan, including Fukushima. Due to the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear accident it was cancelled after it was revealed by Greenpeace France.

From July 17 to 21, Dr. Christopher Busby, Scientific Secretary of the European Committee on Radiation Risk (ECRR) and well known for his research on internal radiation exposure will make an emergency visit to Japan. As you may know, Dr. Busby’s position differs significantly from that of the International Committee on Radiation Protection (ICRP), which he believes has greatly underestimated the dangers of internal exposure. Dr. Busby continues to research into both the dangers of internal exposure as well as the negative health consequences of low-dose radiation exposure.

During his visit to Japan, Dr. Busby will present for the first time his analytical results for the various radionuclides that have been dispersed in Fukushima Prefecture and Tokyo, based on his original dust collection method, which was carried out in advance of his visit. His findings indicate that the official methods used to evaluate radiation exposure to the population are grossly inadequate. He is deeply concerned for the people of Japan as he feels they have not been given accurate data on the levels and types of radionuclides that they are being exposed to.

Dr. Busby will give talks in Aizu Wakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture; Matsudo City, Chiba Prefecture; and in Tokyo, and will meet with local citizens. Chemical physicist Chris Busby is at the forefront of scientists who are challenging the radiation risk model propounded by ICRP, the International Commission on Radiological Protection, whose standards for allowable radiation doses the Japanese government has adopted for its citizens affected by the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant accident.

Busby, Scientific Secretary of the European Committee on Radiation Risk (ECRR), points out that the ICRP model “deals with radiation exposure from all sources in the same way, as if it were external to the body,” and then takes this dose and multiplies it by a risk factor based on the high acute external doses of the atomic-bomb survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The ICRP method thus fails to take into account a number of ways in which certain internal radionuclides can deliver very high doses to critical targets in cells, particularly the cell DNA. One of these is from “inhaled or ingested hot particles, which are solid but microscopic and can lodge in tissue delivering high doses to local cells.”

As a result, internal radiation exposure can be “up to 1,000 times more harmful than the ICRP model concludes.”

In his calculation based on the ECRR model that considers such internal radiation risks, Busby has estimated that within 100 km of Fukushima Daiichi, approximately 200,000 excess cancers will occur within the next 50 years with about half of them diagnosed in the next 10 years, if the 3.3 million people in the area remain there for one year.

He estimates over 220,000 excess cancers in the 7.9 million people from 100 to 200 km in the next 50 years, also with about half of them to be diagnosed in the next 10 years. By contrast, the ICRP model predicts 2,838 extra cancers in the 100 km population.

“The eventual yield will therefore be another test of the two risk models,” Busby contends, pointing out that many studies of the Chernobyl disaster showed much higher cancer yields than the ICRP model had predicted.

The effect of the nuclear disaster, moreover, extends well beyond the 200 km radius. It has been reported in Japan that “traces of plutonium” have been found in the proximity of Fukushima Daiichi.

This is no surprise, since unusual amounts of plutonium and uranium have been detected in Hawaii, Guam, Alaska, and on the West Coast by the US Environmental Protection Agency in the wake of the 3.11 earthquake and tsunami.

CTBTO, the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organization, has reported that radioactive materials had dispersed throughout the Northern Hemisphere within two weeks of the Fukushima accident, and that it had even reached the Southern Hemisphere by mid-April.

Shukan Kin Yobi, a weekly magazine, interviewed Chris Busby on the issue of global contamination at a time when the Japanese media have maintained silence on the issue. The Nuclear Disaster That Could Destroy Japan ... and the World

The nuclear power plants in Japan are ageing rapidly; like cyborgs, they are barely kept in operation by a continuous replacement of parts. And now that Japan has entered a period of earthquake activity and a major accident could happen at any time, the people live in constant state of anxiety.

Seismologists and geologists agree that, after some fifty years of seismic inactivity, with the 1995 Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake (Southern Hyogo Prefecture Earthquake), the country has entered a period of seismic activity. In 2004, the Chuetsu Earthquake hit Niigata Prefecture, doing damage to the village of Yamakoshi. Three years later, in 2007, the Chuetsu Offshore Earthquake severely damaged the nuclear reactors at Kashiwazaki-Kariwa. In 2008, there was an earthquake in Iwate and Miyagi Prefectures, causing a whole mountain to disappear completely. Then in 2009 the Hamaoka nuclear plant was put in a state of emergency by the Suruga Bay Earthquake. And now, in 2011, we have the 3/11 earthquake offshore from the northeast coast. But the period of seismic activity is expected to continue for decades. From the perspective of seismology, a space of 10 or 15 years is but a moment in time.

Because the Pacific Plate, the largest of the plates that envelop the earth, is in motion, I had predicted that there would be major earthquakes all over the world.

And as I had feared, after the Suruga Bay Earthquake of August 2009 came as a triple shock, it was followed in September and October by earthquakes off Samoa, Sumatra, and Vanuatu, of magnitudes between 7.6 and 8.2. That means three to eleven times the force of the Southern Hyogo Prefecture Earthquake.

All of these quakes occurred around the Pacific Plate as the center, and each was located at the boundary of either that plate or a plate under its influence. Then in the following year, 2010, in January there came the Haiti Earthquake, at the boundary of the Caribbean Plate, pushed by the Pacific and Coco Plates, then in February the huge 8.8 magnitude earthquake offshore from Chile. I was praying that this world scale series of earthquakes would come to an end, but the movement of the Pacific Plate shows no sign of stopping, and led in 2011 to the 3/11 Earthquake in northeastern Japan and the subsequent meltdown at the Fukushima

There are large seismic faults, capable of producing earthquakes at the 7 or 8 magnitude level, near each of Japan’s nuclear plants, including the reprocessing plant at Rokkasho. It is hard to believe that there is any nuclear plant that would not be damaged by a magnitude 8 earthquake.

A representative case is the Rokkasho Reprocessing Plant itself, where it has become clear that the fault under the sea nearby also extends inland. The Rokkasho plant, where the nuclear waste (death ash) from all the nuclear plants in Japan is collected, is located on land under which the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate meet. That is, the plate that is the greatest danger to the Rokkasho plant, is now in motion deep beneath Japan.

The Rokkasho plant was originally built with the very low earthquake resistance factor of 375 gals. (Translator’s note: The gal, or galileo, is a unit used to measure peak ground acceleration during earthquakes. Unlike the scales measuring an earthquake’s general intensity, it measures actual ground motion in particular locations.) Today its resistance factor has been raised to only 450 gals, despite the fact that recently in Japan earthquakes registering over 2000 gals have been occurring one after another. Worse, the Shimokita Peninsula is an extremely fragile geologic formation that was at the bottom of the sea as recently as the sea rise of the Jomon period (the Flandrian Transgression) 5000 years ago; if an earthquake occurred there it could be completely destroyed.

The Rokkasho Reprocessing Plant is where expended nuclear fuel from all of Japan’s nuclear power plants is collected, and then reprocessed so as to separate out the plutonium, the uranium, and the remaining highly radioactive liquid waste. In short, it is the most dangerous factory in the world.

At the Rokkasho plant, 240 cubic meters of radioactive liquid waste are now stored. A failure to take care of this properly could lead to a nuclear catastrophe surpassing the meltdown of a reactor. This liquid waste continuously generates heat, and must be constantly cooled. But if an earthquake were to damage the cooling pipes or cut off the electricity, the liquid would begin to boil. According to an analysis prepared by the German nuclear industry, an explosion of this facility could expose persons within a 100 kilometer radius from the plant to radiation 10 to 100 times the lethal level, which presumably means instant death.

On April 7, just one month after the 3/11 earthquake in northeastern Japan, there was a large aftershock. At the Rokkasho Reprocessing Plant the electricity was shut off. The pool containing nuclear fuel and the radioactive liquid waste were (barely) cooled down by the emergency generators, meaning that Japan was brought to the brink of destruction. But the Japanese media, as usual, paid this almost no notice.

The Hamaoka Nuclear Plant is located at Shizuoka City, on Suruga Bay. Despite predictions of a magnitude 8 earthquake on Suruga Bay, it has continued in operation. If you look at the illustration showing the configuration of the plates beneath the Pacific Ocean, you will see that there is a point at which the Philippine Sea Plate, the huge Pacific Plate, the North American Plate, and the Eurasian Plate all meet; directly over that point is the Japanese Archipelago. And the very center of the area where these four plates press together is Shizuoka.

Large scale earthquakes in the eastern and southern seas have occurred regularly at intervals of between 100 and 250 years. Today in 2011, 157 years have passed since the Great Ansei Earthquake of 1854, so we are in a period when the next big one could come at any time. And the predicted center of this expected major earthquake is – though this is hard to believe – exactly under the location of the Hamaoka Nuclear Plant. And sonar readings at the site indicate that from thirty years back the Eurasian plate has been bending, which means that it is in a condition where it can be expected eventually to spring back.

Hirose Takashi has written a whole shelf full of books, mostly on the nuclear power industry and the military-industrial complex. Probably his best known book is Nuclear Power Plants for Tokyo in which he took the logic of the nuke promoters to its logical conclusion: if you are so sure that they're safe, why not build them in the center of the city, instead of hundreds of miles away where you lose half the electricity in the wires?

We do need donatioNS to help with transporting those women to Okinawa. The airfare from the Tohoku area to Okinawa is about $700 per person and many have lost everything and can not go back to homes as they are too contaminated with radiation. They will not be able to return to the area near the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power station for a while, possibly for a long while.

The half life of caecium is 30 years. It accumulates in the soil. Their fertile farm land will be unsuitable for farming for a long long time I am afraid.

The half life of plutonium is 24,000 years. Fukushima No.3 reactor has plutonium so I am very concerned.

Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power has 6 plants and 4 already broken, Fukushima Daini has 4, Onagawa Nuclear power has 3 plants, so all together 13 reactors are not normal condition. Out of those, 4 are already releasing the radiation and 9 are unknown as of today (no news about them).

The most damaged is Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant and those who live within 20 km of Fukushima Daiichi have evacuated now, but are those who between 20 and 30 km are told stay inside the house. I wonder if those people are safe. If it is safe, what about children and pregnant women? I know all the standard are usually set for male adult,

After knowing Sternglass's work, I can not agree with what Japanese government and all the Japanese media are saying to us. It is safe, no need to evacuate, etc. I understand it is important to avoid panic, but even the low level radiation is not safe for pregnant women and small children.

On TV news, they keep saying the level of radiation won't be immediate health threat and DO NOT WORRY at all. I wish that were true!! But for pregnant women and small children, you better take a extra caution as they are more prone to radiation.

So, we launched a project for EVACUATION AND FINDING HOMES FOR PREGNANT WOMEN AND CHILDREN on March 18 in Okinawa Japan for two reasons: 1. Okinawa has no nuclear plants and rare earthquake 2. Okinawa is furthest spot in Japan from the radiation. On March 26, radioactive material is already found in Okayama (west part of Japan) so, the contamination of all Japan is just a matter of time and weather (wind and rain).

"TSUNAGU HIKARI"(Connecting Light) Launched to Support Victims from the Tohoku Kanto Earthquake/Tsunami

We, volunteer citizens of Japan, wish to announce the launching of "TSUNAGU HIKARI", a support campaign for victims' from the Tohoku Kanto Earthquake/Tsunami afflicted areas.

As there are expected to be serious effects caused by the radiation released from the damaged nuclear power plants, the recovery of those areas afflicted by the earthquake, tsunami and damaged nuclear power plants it is anticipated to be a long term process.

Tsunagu Hikari is an information center created to help find accommodation in Okinawa for pregnant women and families with small children from the affected areas. Among the first to be evacuated will be women and children living within the 30 km (20 mile) unsafe radiation boundary.

Okinawa is located in the most distant part of Japan from the afflicted areas and can be considered to be the safest place for evacuees.

We are recruiting volunteers to help with this project. We need information on available homes and unused hotel rooms, as well as any kind of housing or dormitories etc. in Okinawa that can be offered for this purpose. We are also doing fundraising to cover the costs.

Our Mission:

1. To arrange accommodation in Okinawa for women and children impacted by the tsunami/earthquake and radiation from the nuclear power plants.

2. To provide appropriate personal care as required by the victims, including counseling, clothing and other personal items.

Background of the appeal:

Masao Hara, the Mayor of Koriyama city, at the press conference in the afternoon on March 19, 2011, said, it was the outrageous mistake that the Japanese government turned down the support offered by the United States which suggested decommissioning the nuclear plants. He announced that he made a request to the Tokyo Electric Power Company and Mr. Kaieda, the Minister of economy, trade and industry to immediately take measures to control the nuclear accidents towards decommissioning the plants. We urge the State and the Tokyo Electric Power Company to accept the request made by the Mayor of Koriyama city and decide to decommission the Fukushima nuclear power plants.

We are worried about the workers who have been courageously engaging in the operations day and night to suppress the reactors and avert the worst-case scenario at their peril of being exposed to the radiation at the Fukushima nuclear power plants which were affected by the recent and continuing earth quakes. It has become clear to everyone that as long as the nuclear plants run, people are affected by the radiation. So many nuclear plant workers have been exposed to the radiation and some died from the radiation exposure even when the plants were running "safe". The people are little known who died after a long suffering, when the causal link between the death and the radiation exposure became difficult to establish.

We must now stop our practice: enjoying the "safe" electricity from the nuclear power plants at the expense of the workers exposed to the radiation.

So many people have contacted me across the ocean if we are safe. Thank YOU. I and my family are all safe and alive as I write this. My town Kamogawa is not affected even though we had earthquakes and tsunami, too.

But radiation is coming and it is serious.

In my view, all the pregnant woman and children are better off to go as far as they can from Fukushima Nuclear Power plants (there are 10 plants there. 6 @1st Fukushima, 4@2nd Fukushima). 10 nuclear power plants are under critical condition, 4 have started releasing radioactive gas to the environment, which is now heading west across the pacific ocean.

Now, it is about the survival of Japan and maybe northern hemisphere. If you are American, you can help us now by asking your senators and congressman to request Japanese government to stop Hamaoka and Tokai nuclear power plants now before the next big earthquake happens.

The earthquakes are moving down south and we had a big earthquake yesterday in Fuji (Mt. Fuji area) magnitude 6. We have had 200 earthquakes since the 1st one as big or bigger than magnitude 5 in one week. Japan is in severe danger now.

To me it is crazy to build and operate nuclear power plants over earthquake fault lines. There are faults under the islands of Japan so there is no safe site for any nuclear power plants here, period!

Residents of Iwaishima Island have been living on the rich natural resource from the sea. In order to save the sea, approximately 100 people of the residents are desperately opposing and raising action by nonviolent means. However, Chugoku Electric Power Inc. has hired 600 people to force through the construction.

Now they are on the verge.

James Quintiere, Ph.D., former Chief of the Fire Science Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), has called for an independent review of NIST’s investigation into the collapses of the World Trade Center Towers on 9/11.

Dr. Quintiere made his plea during his presentation, “Questions on the WTC Investigations” at the 2007 World Fire Safety Conference. “I wish that there would be a peer review of this,” he said, referring to the NIST investigation. “I think all the records that NIST has assembled should be archived. I would really like to see someone else take a look at what they’ve done; both structurally and from a fire point of view.”

“I think the official conclusion that NIST arrived at is questionable,” explained Dr. Quintiere. “Let's look at real alternatives that might have been the cause of the collapse of the World Trade Towers and how that relates to the official cause and what's the significance of one cause versus another.”

Yesterday, in the Westminster Magistrates Court in London, the lawyers for WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange presented to the judge a document from me stating that I have put up $20,000 of my own money to help bail Mr. Assange out of jail.

Furthermore, I am publicly offering the assistance of my website, my servers, my domain names and anything else I can do to keep WikiLeaks alive and thriving as it continues its work to expose the crimes that were concocted in secret and carried out in our name and with our tax dollars.

We were taken to war in Iraq on a lie. Hundreds of thousands are now dead. Just imagine if the men who planned this war crime back in 2002 had had a WikiLeaks to deal with. They might not have been able to pull it off. The only reason they thought they could get away with it was because they had a guaranteed cloak of secrecy. That guarantee has now been ripped from them, and I hope they are never able to operate in secret again.

So why is WikiLeaks, after performing such an important public service, under such vicious attack? Because they have outed and embarrassed those who have covered up the truth. The assault on them has been over the top:

**Sen. Joe Lieberman says WikiLeaks "has violated the Espionage Act."

**The New Yorker's George Packer calls Assange "super-secretive, thin-skinned, [and] megalomaniacal."

**Sarah Palin claims he's "an anti-American operative with blood on his hands" whom we should pursue "with the same urgency we pursue al Qaeda and Taliban leaders."

**Democrat Bob Beckel (Walter Mondale's 1984 campaign manager) said about Assange on Fox: "A dead man can't leak stuff ... there's only one way to do it: illegally shoot the son of a bitch."

**Republican Mary Matalin says "he's a psychopath, a sociopath ... He's a terrorist."

**Rep. Peter A. King calls WikiLeaks a "terrorist organization."

And indeed they are! They exist to terrorize the liars and warmongers who have brought ruin to our nation and to others. Perhaps the next war won't be so easy because the tables have been turned -- and now it's Big Brother who's being watched ... by us!

WikiLeaks deserves our thanks for shining a huge spotlight on all this. But some in the corporate-owned press have dismissed the importance of WikiLeaks ("they've released little that's new!") or have painted them as simple anarchists ("WikiLeaks just releases everything without any editorial control!"). WikiLeaks exists, in part, because the mainstream media has failed to live up to its responsibility. The corporate owners have decimated newsrooms, making it impossible for good journalists to do their job. There's no time or money anymore for investigative journalism. Simply put, investors don't want those stories exposed. They like their secrets kept ... as secrets.

I ask you to imagine how much different our world would be if WikiLeaks had existed 10 years ago. Take a look at this photo. That's Mr. Bush about to be handed a "secret" document on August 6th, 2001. Its heading read: "Bin Ladin Determined To Strike in US." And on those pages it said the FBI had discovered "patterns of suspicious activity in this country consistent with preparations for hijackings." Mr. Bush decided to ignore it and went fishing for the next four weeks.

But if that document had been leaked, how would you or I have reacted? What would Congress or the FAA have done? Was there not a greater chance that someone, somewhere would have done something if all of us knew about bin Laden's impending attack using hijacked planes?

But back then only a few people had access to that document. Because the secret was kept, a flight school instructor in San Diego who noticed that two Saudi students took no interest in takeoffs or landings, did nothing. Had he read about the bin Laden threat in the paper, might he have called the FBI? (Please read this essay by former FBI Agent Coleen Rowley, Time's 2002 co-Person of the Year, about her belief that had WikiLeaks been around in 2001, 9/11 might have been prevented.)

Or what if the public in 2003 had been able to read "secret" memos from Dick Cheney as he pressured the CIA to give him the "facts" he wanted in order to build his false case for war? If a WikiLeaks had revealed at that time that there were, in fact, no weapons of mass destruction, do you think that the war would have been launched -- or rather, wouldn't there have been calls for Cheney's arrest?

Openness, transparency -- these are among the few weapons the citizenry has to protect itself from the powerful and the corrupt. What if within days of August 4th, 1964 -- after the Pentagon had made up the lie that our ship was attacked by the North Vietnamese in the Gulf of Tonkin -- there had been a WikiLeaks to tell the American people that the whole thing was made up? I guess 58,000 of our soldiers (and 2 million Vietnamese) might be alive today.

Instead, secrets killed them.

For those of you who think it's wrong to support Julian Assange because of the sexual assault allegations he's being held for, all I ask is that you not be naive about how the government works when it decides to go after its prey. Please -- never, ever believe the "official story." And regardless of Assange's guilt or innocence (see the strange nature of the allegations here), this man has the right to have bail posted and to defend himself. I have joined with filmmakers Ken Loach and John Pilger and writer Jemima Khan in putting up the bail money -- and we hope the judge will accept this and grant his release today.

Might WikiLeaks cause some unintended harm to diplomatic negotiations and U.S. interests around the world? Perhaps. But that's the price you pay when you and your government take us into a war based on a lie. Your punishment for misbehaving is that someone has to turn on all the lights in the room so that we can see what you're up to. You simply can't be trusted. So every cable, every email you write is now fair game. Sorry, but you brought this upon yourself. No one can hide from the truth now. No one can plot the next Big Lie if they know that they might be exposed.

And that is the best thing that WikiLeaks has done. WikiLeaks, God bless them, will save lives as a result of their actions. And any of you who join me in supporting them are committing a true act of patriotism. Period.

I stand today in absentia with Julian Assange in London and I ask the judge to grant him his release. I am willing to guarantee his return to court with the bail money I have wired to said court. I will not allow this injustice to continue unchallenged.

Genkai Nuclear Power Plant Radiation Leak

In Japan, Genkai Nuclear Power Planst in Kyusyu just had a radiation leak on Dec 11. The extent of the radiation leak is still hidden from the public. It may be as bad as Three Mile Island. It has so-called "plu-thermal" fuel, (uranium with plutonium mixed fuel) which is more unstable and dangerous than enriched uranium fuel.

Keep Your Dream Alive and Be the Change: Bioneers and The Best Game

"Keep Your Dream Alive and Be the Change" is what I brought home (Japan) from my 2 weeks trip to USA, learning NVC and participating/covering Bioneers Conference. These words wake me up this morning so laud that I decided to write here.

Every step about my trip to the USA was miracle for me. I was able to take time off from my work in Japan (including leaving two young kids), to enter the USA (even though I was stopped and questioned for 2 hours at the immigration), to understand and enjoy learning NVC in another language in spite of my lack of English ability, to be happy and relaxed about sharing NVC in Japan, to be able to attend the Bioneers Conference thanks to Miki Kashtan who was giving a NVC workshop there, to be at peace about how the film ZERO was doing whole I was absent (actually it did very well), to be able to spend a night at a hotel with a new friend Jane I met at Women's leadership training within Bioneers, and Jane has a dream house and a half acre of land that can be turned into permaculture garden and it even has a mature avocado tree, etc......all of these were miracle after miracle for me.

And most of all, I was able to interview and record Nina Simons words, co-founder of Bioneers, in spite of her super busy and tight schedule (she gave me a few minutes) while everyone there wanted to talk to her. It was amazing she took a few minutes to answer my question.

And what she told me is amazing and inspiring, exactly what I wanted to hear: isn't this a miracle?

It is important for me to focus on what I am for rather than what I am against. I am for PEACE rather than I am against war. YES PEACE, rather than NO WAR, yes for sustainablitiy rather than against unsustainability (such as clear cutting of forest, polluting air, ocean, soil, etc).

Bioneers is something I really would like to get involved more and I also would like to see if I can organize something like that in Japan.

I continue to be the change, be the media and be peace as I have been saying last couple of years like a mantra.

In a way, Bioneers gives me the similar inspiration as The Best Game, which was founded by Norie Huddle, and I really share the value of The Best Game even today (I got to know Norie in 1988).

The Goal of the Best Game is to create peace, health, prosperity and justice universally on earth by year 2012. And the Game has 10 rules on how to go about it. In a way, it is vague, but it really gives me the rules how I want to live daily life. I am a member of the Game since the time I know Norie Huddle.

Upon going back to Japan, I have a retreat at my 200-year-old farm house called Harmonics Life Center, which is my home, lead by Francois Beausoleil who will be leading the next LP11. I would like to attend the next one if I can afford it (money and time that I can take from my work in Japan).

I mean to bring Be Peace training to Japan once enough people learn the NVC.

Dear BePeace friends,

For us, today's date, 10/10/10, is symbolic of a new wave of BePeace expansion. Just think, the number 10 is identified with the concept of multiplication. The fact that there are three "10s" implies that this date is power-packed with evolutionary potential. Since BePeace implementation trainings in Kansas City and Charlotte resulted in contracts with 30 new BePeace trainers, it seems we are in sync with this date and all that it implies for exponential growth. Let's contemplate further what this special date means for us....

Back in 1997, my husband had a dream about us making 10 copies of the English translation of the poem, Rasur. This dream moved me to take a serious look at this inspired poem and I discovered it held the answers to "teaching peace". Suddenly I realized that the number "10" in the dream was telling me to "make copies" of this educational approach to peace; to multiply it exponentially.

A year later, I learned that Roberto Brenes Mesén, the Costa Rican author of the poem Rasur, had the same guidance I did about multiplying the awareness that his poem contained. In his last letter to his daughter, Fresia, who was living in the US, he wrote "Let the poem be known. We will send copies for you to distribute." Over time, I assimilated the principles in his poem Rasur into the practice of BePeace and Rasur Foundation International became the vehicle for multiplying this way of "teaching peace". Now each of you reading this today on 10/10/10 has become a powerful part of making copies. I am so deeply grateful for the many unique ways that you have contributed to BePeace spreading, one heart at a time.

What is the next step forward for our mystical, collective "copy machine"? It is time for me to finish the book that will take this peace teaching more directly to the children; BePeace: Weaving Wisdom and Compassion. My greatest challenge is to withdraw from the expansion that is happening, create a cocoon of peace and write so that the "butterfly" will take flight. In order to do this in a conscious way, two things are needed:
Financial support (almost all our funding has been through trainings I offer and more funding is needed in order to temporarily step out of this role)

I do not know what is happening. Are people are finally waking up or what?

The number of advance tickets sales for ZERO for Saturday were less than 20 and for Sunday less than 10, but for the two days, the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum for Photography theater was full for the screening of ZERO.

The sign reads: The 18:40 showing of ZERO is SOLD OUT.

It is quite amazing.

My dream is to give share this movie with at least 1% of the Japanese population, which is about 1 million people.

So far, about 1000 people have seen it. That is still a small number, but every every person that sees it helps swell the truth.

If one person can tell two people, and those two people tell two people the next day, and the next day those four people tell two people each, by the 28th day the number will exceed the population of Japan. (Of course, this is how it would work in an ideal situation...)

Tomorrow is the first day of the screening of ZERO: An Investigation into 9/11 (English with Japanese subtitles): from 9/11~9/24@Tokyo Metropolitan Museum for Photography, starting 18:40. I was in charge of creating the Japanese version of this wonderful Italian documentary film.

I will be speaking before the screening, and my special guest tomorrow is Sarah Yamasaki, who was a victim of false charges in regard to the events of 911 and the war on terror! She was held in a US jail for almost 2 years!

The Italian produced film ZERO: An Investigation into 9/11 (English with Japanese subtitles) will be screening soon in Japan.

We are currently working day and night to finish the Japanese version of the film.

This will be the first 911 film to be shown at a regular mainstream theater in Japan and we are so happy that this has finally become reality. It took us a full six years of hard work to get to this point. Here is the English trailer:

Good news!

Today, I went to Tokyo today and made an agreement with a famous theater (The Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography in Ebisu) in order to show the Japanese version of ZERO: An Investigation into 9/11.

I will announce the details more later, but please keep your evening open on 9/11/2010. I will be at that theater in Tokyo and showing that amazingly great documentary made by an Italian film maker.

On 9/9/2010, there will be another event put on by the Tokyo Peace Film Club. It is called the "911 Film Festival", and you can see good selection of 911 truth related films (in Japanese, some in English with Japanese subtitles). This is the only film festival in Japan that shows 911 films.

If you can, keep your day also open on that day. It will be an all day event.

I will post more details on both events as soon as I have them.

I am about to leave for San Francisco Airport. I will be taking a flight back to Japan soon.

I left home, leaving my children for the longest time, 3 weeks. I called them every day but I miss them and I am guessing they miss me, too.

I am finally learning a little bit about NVC because of my participation in the Leadership Training course offered by BayNVC. I feel like I am learning two languages, English and this Non-Violent Communication at the same time.

When I first heard about NVC (it was a long time ago), it did not do anything for me or seem to fit me and my lifestyle in Japan). That was when I listened to Marshall Rosenberg on cassette tape back in 2003. It sounded good, but when I translated the words into Japanese, it all sounded too strange to use practically. So I never did anything with it.

But NVC kept coming back to me.

When I started a campaign to create Ministry of Peace (the equivalent of the Department of Peace in USA), many of the Americans in the movement were practicing NVC. When I attended the 3rd National Department of Peace Conference in Washington DC in 2005, Marshall's book "Speak Peace in the World of Conflict" was given to me. I read some, but I never finished it. (Sorry, Dot!)

On another occasion, when I attended the 2nd Global Alliance Summit for Ministries and Departments of Peace in Canada, I met Miki Kashtan, the trainer of this retreat and organizer of the whole LP program this time. When I heard her speak in the conference, I thought, "What is this? She is speaking differently..."

When we organized the 3rd Global Alliance Summit for Ministries and Departments of Peace in Japan, Miki Kashtan was the facilitator for all the sessions. At that time I got to know more intimately about NVC.

After that some of my colleagues from JUMP (Japan United for Ministries of Peace) started learning NVC more intensively and I also became more interested.

Now I find myself attending the LP10. Such a thing, a few years ago, was beyond my imagination. It seems like a big leap, an enormous leap. How did I get here?

I am in the redwood forest of Santa Cruz (Ben Lomond) learning a new language called NVC (Non Violent Communication) and this is 4th day of the 2nd retreat. It is a year long program offered by BayNVC and Miki Kashtan and Roxy Manning are our trainers.

I am making a little bit of progress in understanding NVC and excited about using it in my real life back in Japan creating more sustainable and peaceful community.

Susan Livingstone, co-participant from Leadership program of NVC, really worked wholeheartedly to organize two events that I wanted to do for BayNVC. Thank you Susan and her friends who made these events possible. I think it has had some positive effect.

Below are some photos from Red Victorian where I talked and then played some music with Gen and Shigeko.

In my talk, I touched upon our organic farm, our sustainable simple life, The Department of Peace, Depleted Uranium, Article 9, The War on Terror and 911, Dennis Kucinich and on the need for each of us to be the MEDIA.

Each one of us here has at least two people we can tell what we know about 911, I guess. Let's imagine that one person finds out today on 911 (by reading Jesse's book or even this blog) and tells two friends about it within 24 hours. Those 2 friends also tell 2 friends about it within 24 hours. On the 3rd day, there will be 4 people, 4th day 8 people, 5th day 16 people and 6th day 32 people. On 15th day, 16384 people and on 21st day, 1,048,576 will know about it (this is more than 1 million!).

It won't happen like this calculation in reality, as it tends to stop happening further the source. But let's continue this line of thinking for fun.

I tell Japanese people all the time that by the 28th day, it will be 134,217,728 people, and exceed entire population of Japan. On 30th day it will exceed US population and on 31st day, it will exceed 1 billion people (1,073,741,824) and by the 34th day, it will exceed entire population of the planet!

Is not telling 2 people is doable? If we get serious, we can change the world within 34 days.

So, Tell every one you know the truth about 911 ( you can refer to my blog), and ask them "Please tell 2 people".

At 10:30 am on March 3, 2010, Lee Hockstader, Editorial Writer for the Washington Post, visited myself (Yukihisa Fujita, member of the House of Councillors, and Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) International Department Director General) having made an interview request on the subject of “Japan’s stance on and shifting attitudes toward immigration” via the Foreign Press Center, Japan. (original interview request and questions in Japanese available on request)

1. The requested interview time of one hour was spent discussing the current situation relating to Japan’s response to immigration and my opinions on this issue. During the interview Hockstader typed my comments into his laptop computer, as he had requested. However, once the one hour interview had ended and Hockstader had closed his laptop, he mentioned as an aside that he had noticed from my resume that I had raised the issue of the 9/11 terror attacks in a Diet committee, and asked whether I had some doubts about this issue. In response, I explained the circumstances that led me to become involved in the 9/11 issue and pointed out a number of points that still remained unexplained about the events of that day.

2. In other words, after answering questions on the agreed upon theme for around one hour, I naturally responded to this question as being separate from the interview itself.

3. Ms. Fukasawa of the Foreign Press Center, Japan also attended the interview (DPJ International Department Manager Ms. Uchida and Deputy Manager Ms. Burnicle were also in attendance), and she confirmed that during his visit to Japan, Hockstader did not conduct interviews on any other subject than immigration. (following the interview, I received a letter of thanks from Foreign Press Center, Japan President Terusuke Terada). The entire interview was recorded and I intend to disclose the content of the entire interview in due course.

4. As stated in 1. above, this was an informal chat regarding 9/11 following the actual interview itself. At no point did I draw the conclusion that 9/11 was a conspiracy, and I clearly stated that the collapse of the Twin Towers could not be judged to be a result of a controlled demolition. Rather, I stated I had made my speech in the Diet from the stance that it was necessary to investigate the origins of the “War on Terror” from the perspective of assisting the relatives of the victims of 9/11, and in relation to the war in Afghanistan and the provision of humanitarian assistance.

5. Furthermore, I have many American friends from various walks of life, and have worked for many years to serve as a bridge between Japan and the United States, including by providing assistance to former US POWs held captive by Japan.

6. I currently serve as Director of the Research Committee on International Affairs and Global Warming Issues in the House of Councillors, but I was introduced in the article as “the head of the Research Committee on Foreign Affairs”. Moreover, the article describes me as “a Brahmin in the foreign policy establishment” of Japan, while in fact, as Director General of the Democratic Party of Japan’s International Department, I am not involved in policy matters. I find it totally regrettable that this kind of biased article should be published in the Washington Post.

By reading this, I am surprised to witness that a very credible paper like The Washington Post tricked him like this. This editorial is not only inaccurate but also Mr. Hockstader, the writer of this editorial, cheated him when asking for an interview. Why did Washington Post (he) do that?

I am guessing two possibilities:
They are really scared of the 911 truth coming out?
or
The editor may be an "angel" for us. He deliberately made mistakes in order to open the door to 911 Truth discussions in the mainstream media.

There is growing international support for the 911 Truth movement and I think this can be a great opportunity for 911 truth to be revealed in the main stream media.

The latter part of the title came strongly to me at 5am this morning. It was SO strong that I had to wake up and write them down: What You Buy Next Will Change the World!

Yes, this is essence of what I want to convey to American, Japanese, European or any affluent people in the world today. Our world is made of what we buy. Everything you see in your house exists because you or someone bought it. Without buying, things do not exist, and corporations who make products will not survive if we all stop buying their products.

As I live on an organic farm, trying not to pollute water around my home, I now live without using any detergent nor soap. I clean myself, clothes and house using salt, vinegar, baking soda, etc. I use no cosmetics either and I now have better skin than when I was in my 20s.

Back to Japan. I am writing this in our 200 old farm house where we grow rice, vegetables, as well as fruits and mushrooms organically, and am looking back at the rich experience of my 10 days in the US. Today's podcast was recorded on my last night in the US at Miki Kashtan's house, with Jared as a guest. He has a great passion to teach NVC (Non Violent Communication) in Japan one day. He was an assistant in the NVC retreat and I enjoyed his playfulness and open heart very much.

During this NVC retreat, I witnessed a community that has a different consciousness about human relationships. Those who practice NVC are really trying to create a world where each person's needs matter. It seems to me "a mission impossible", but the trainers were really practicing NVC moment to moment throughout the retreat, which was really amazing and moving!

One day, I would love to be able to talk like that in my own language and also in English.

On the last night of my trip to the US after the retreat, we saw a beautiful rainbow on the way to Oakland. A rainbow is a good sign, it means hope to me. I felt it was celebrating for all of us who had for the past 9 days worked passionately to create a better world for humanity. Well, I admit we are far from perfect, but every one of us had the clear intention for creating a world that we would like to live in.

Then, that beautiful sunset appeared. Nature is always reminding us what a beautiful place we live in. Soon after the sunset, there came a full moon. I was lost for words and deeply moved by the full moon. It was saying YES! with a big smile.

When I woke up on that day, the following words came to me in English, which was surprising to me (this happens in Japanese usually). I have never written a poem, but I am going to share it with you. This is my first poem in English.

HURT

It's OK to get hurt
It's OK to get beaten up
As long as I have my intentions clear
All I want is peace,
peace in me, peace in you, and peace on earth

I stand up again and again
making a lot of mistakes until I get it
I stand up and do the best I can in that moment
If I fail and create mess, I connect with myself

Today (Feb 26) was the last night of the NVC Leadership Training that I am attending, and we had "Know Talent Show" (sounds like No Talent Show, but it really means KNOW talent show).

It was an event of songs, dances, skits, story telling and talk show by the participants, assistants and trainers. I had so much fun and laughter that it met my need of joy, aliveness and connection.

I was amazed by some of the hidden talent of the people, especially the act/song by Ken (he normally looks quiet and sober). What a good singer he was! I already am looking forward to 2nd Know Talent Show, which will take place at the end of the next retreat in Jun.

What I did was my podcast I often do with a guest, this time with Miki and with audience. I set the situation that people do not know much about NVC and have an interest in peace making.

LIVE from San Francisco: AE911 Truth Press Conference

I made my way to San Francisco safely and I am writing this in a deep forest of red wood trees near Santa Cruz, where I am attending a retreat of Non Violent Communication.

On the day I arrived, I had the privilege of attending the press conference by Architects and Engineers for 911 Truth held in San Francisco at Marines' Memorial Club & Hotel.

I recorded a part of press conference that Richard Gage, Dr. David Ray Griffin, Dr. Steven Jones and Mr. Lawyers (founder of Fire Fighters for 911 Truth) spoke, but it is not the best quality of sound.

We are back to Japan after two weeks of work and fun in Hawaii. We hold a Harmonics Healing and Raw Detox workshop at Ginger Hill Organic Farm and Retreat Center in Kealakekua (South Kona) Hawaii with Mayumi Oda.

The main focus of the workshop was detoxication, so during that time we ate only organic and raw food, nothing else and I am feeling GREAT! It has been an amazing healing and uplifting experience for me that I mean to continue this way of eating (100% raw) for a while.

Why for a while? Well, as it is winter and very cold in Japan, I also want hot meals, such as Nabe and Soup, too!

Now, today's topic: About a new base in Okinawa, Henoko. I have been to Henoko, Okinawa, a couple of times and it is such a beautiful place with coral reef and rich marine life. People's life for generations depend on the gift from the ocean. They can not sell their life no matter how much money they are given. THERE ARE THINGS THAT YOU CAN NOT BUY OR REPLACE. Okinawa people suffer enough from US bases. To me, Okinawa is still like under the US occupation!

We gave out the Japanese version of "9/11 Blue Print for Truth" DVDs to all those who came to the park as a Christmas Gift of Truth. We had a great time together. Mr. Tsuyoshi Saito, a Japanese MP with the current ruling Democratic Party, gave the opening speech at the event, which I think was quite historical for the 911 Truth Movement.

I had a chat with Josef (Santa!) today. He is now back his home in Alaska, getting back to his life there after his trip to Japan. We have decided to organize multiple international film screenings of the movie "9/11: Blueprint for Truth" on Jan 19, 2010 everywhere on our planet.

The reason we chose Jan 19th is because it is the reverse for Sept 11th.

We write Sept. 11th as 911, we write Jan. 19th as 119.

119 happens to be the emergency telephone number that people dial here in Japan if they are in need of help. In the US the emergency number is 911.

Is this a coincidence or what?

Lets use the Japan emergency help number to bring back peace to the world.

On Dec 23, Christmas Eve's Eve, we got together at Minato no Mieru Oka Park in Yokohama, Kanagawa with Josef Princiotta Santa Clause and gave out the DVD "9/11: Blueprint for Truth" to people who came to the park.

At the opening of the event, Japanese MP Tsuyoshi Saito (Democratic Party, House of Representatives) from Kanagawa Prefecture gave a marvelous speech, saying "Let's Stand Up for 911 Truth!"

It is in Japanese at the moment, but we hope to provide an English subtitled version soon.

Josef Princiotta used to be a crime scene science investigator (for 35 years) and he sees the 911 incident as a crime and World Trade Center as a crime scene. His viewpoint can help to give us a more in-depth understanding of 911. It is worth listening to his presentation if you have not done so yet.

He will be speaking at Sala Shanti, Rokko, Kobe on Dec 27, 2009 from 18:30 till 21:00 or so. A donation of 1000 yen or more would be appreciated to pay for his traveling expenses.

Josef Santa will Give the Gift of 911 Truth on Dec 23

Today, we had a remarkable day in Tokyo. Josef Princiotta and I went to Nagatacho, Tokyo to see Mr. Tsuyoshi Saito, a member of House of Representative from Kanagawa Prefecture.

We met him when Richard Gage gave a lecture to Diet (Parliament or Congress) members on 911 truth. The event was organized by Mr. Yukihisa Fujita, a member of House of Councilors. Mr. Saito stood up at the end of the lecture and promised he would support the 911 truth movement. Josef remembered this very well.

Then the idea came to us of giving away the Japanese version of the DVD 9/11:Blue Print for Truth as Christmas will be here soon. We decided to label the event 'Gift of 911 Truth' and we chose Minatono Mieru Oka Koen park in Yokohama as the venue.

Then some more inspiration came: Contact Mr. Saito for the event! So I sent him a press release. His secretary kindly arranged a meeting with us today.

We spent a full hour together during his busy schedule and by the end of the meeting he promised that he would come to the event on Dec 23.

What a wonderful commitment! Josef was in tears. After all our work our voices were finally heard and our long hard effort has produced some success.

It is hard to imagine but our 3rd 911 Conference tour has not had a mention in any of the major Japanese newspapers. Though newspapers published in Okinawa cannot really be considered 'major' in Japan, the following article appeared on December 12th.

Chasing the Mysteries of 9/11 Tragedy

Due to the way the WTC twin towers in New York City fell straight down, as if they had been planned to be destroyed, I have had some doubts about the official US government story.

The night of September 12, 2001, I happened to put the TV on and saw a familiar building that I keep in my architecture portfolio, on fire. I turned the volume up thinking it was a movie like "The Towering Inferno" only to find out it was live.

I am still mystified to this day by the scene of the two buildings collapsing vertically straight down.

Not only that, but they say a commercial aircraft crashed into the Pentagon - the US Department of Defense, yet no aircraft wreckage could be seen at the scene.

Long after that day, I read a magazine and I came to learn about the 47 story Building 7 (at the World Trade Center Complex), which collapsed completely (on the same day as the twin towers), yet no plane had crashed into it.

As my career is in architectural design, it is a mystery to me why each of those three towers tumbled down vertically as they did.

There will be a film showing and lecture held with a peace activist Yumi Kikuchi and American architect Richard Gage who are both trying to resolve the mystery of the collapses.

It will be held from 2pm on 13th at the Okinawa Convention Center Theater in Ginowan City.

Richard Gage Making a HUGE difference on 911 Truth in Japan

Yesterday, at the Japanese Diet (Parliament) we had a great afternoon with Upper House Members at the Sangin Kaikan (House of Councilor's Office) in Tokyo. The event was hosted by Mr. Fujita, who, as you might already know, asked important questions in January 2008 concerning the events of Sept. 11, 2001.

Richard Gage's speaking tour in Japan so far has been a great success. Many of the attendees who were supporters of the official 911 story have changed their opinions completely, and now know that explosives were used to bring down the three buildings on Sept. 11th, 2001. Of course, not all were completely convinced. Some that were not completely convinced however did change their opinions to "unsure".

A number of architects and engineers have attended each of the events so far (Yokohama, Tokyo, Nagoya, Shiga), but none to my knowledge have yet signed the Architects and Engineers petition.

Dan Abercrombie, who introduced me to Richard, has been helping us with his wonderful bilingual skills by translating Richard's words to Japanese at each of the events. Even though he is not professional interpreter he is doing an amazing job.

Progress Report for the AE911Truth Japan Tour (by Dan Abercrombie)

We have finished the first half of the AE911Truth Japan Tour. In short, two words: HUGE SUCCESS!

This is the first time for group leader Richard Gage to speak in Asia, and the tour will allow us to reach several milestones in the continued pursuit of Truth.

We will make a detailed report at the end of the tour, but I am sure many of our colleagues and friends in the global 9/11 Truth Movement are eager for breaking news from Japan, so please see the quick summary of the events to date that follows.

Most importantly, we would like to acknowledge all of the enormous support that has come from the whole team in Japan to make this all possible. There are too many people (including large teams of local volunteers at each event) to mention individually, but two heroes deserve very special thanks.

Yumi Kikuchi used her connections and network of supporters to set up the entire tour, and did so with an amazing degree of professionalism and an ENORMOUS amount of work. Thanks to the efforts of her team, each event has come off flawlessly and all events have been very well attended.

Councilor Yukihisa Fujita of Japan’s ruling Democratic Party (DPJ) continues to be one of the most important world figures pushing for bringing the Truth to light. Mr. Fujita spoke at the 12/5 Tokyo event (below), and has arranged meetings with two prominent Japanese structural engineers from major universities and a meeting at the Japanese House of Councilors which was attended by eight of his colleagues from the Japanese legislature. We will make a separate report on these meetings in coming days. Words cannot express our appreciation for Mr. Fujita’s continuing courage and willingness to use his stature and credibility to support this cause which has huge implications for the entire world.

We also need to thank all of the people who time out of their busy schedules, bought tickets to attend and made generous contributions to the Truth Movement in many forms. People are life blood of the Movement and the enthusiastic support from our Japanese friends has been spectacular!

Below is a quick report on each of the events to date:

12/4 in Yokohama: Richard Pitches a Shutout!
The Yokohama event was expected to be smaller, but thanks to excellent promotion by Ms. Kikuchi et. al., over eighty people (including three architects/engineers) purchased tickets and attended the event held at the Kanagawa Museum of Modern Literature near Yokohama’s famed China Town. (Check out these pictures from the event)

Richard delivered a two-hour version of his well-known Blueprint for 9/11 Truth presentation. As Richard does at all speaking events, early on, he asked the audience how many believe the US Government’s “official story” for the three building collapses in New York, how many are unsure what happened to the buildings and finally how many believe that the collapses were a result of controlled demolition. Initially, about 15 indicated that they believe the official story, about 45 indicated “unsure” with the remaining attendees already believing that there must have been controlled demolitions of the three high-rises. Toward the end of the talk, Richard repeated the spot poll, and there were none who indicated that they still believed the official story, and less than ten who were still unsure. A shutout! Score one for Truth!

12/5 in Tokyo: Main Event a Great Success!
The Tokyo event, held at a large hall in the heart of Tokyo, was attended by over 300. The event was MC’d by the famous and colorful Japanese 80’s rocker, Sunplaza Nakano-Kun. He added a great deal of excitement to event and drew many people to the event by lending his famous name to the cause. (Check out these pictures from the event)

Councilor Fujita delivered a poignant message regarding the need for all people, be they government officials, architects/engineers or just citizens of the world, to work together to reveal Truth for the sake of World Peace. Yumi Kikuchi’s talk reviewed videos/books by many from the Truth Movement and reinforced the need to expose Truth for sake of Peace, while at the same time making a gripping point regarding the sickeningly ironic “backfiring” of the so-called “War on Terror” which creates more terrorists than it subdues and tragically kills and maims so many innocent lives around the world. Other speakers from the broader Truth Movement added to event by discussing issues/theories outside of scope of the work and research of Architects & Engineers to 9/11 Truth.

Richard’s talk was very well received. Even at this larger event, another shutout was pitched. Early in the lecture, about 45 hands went up indicating “belief in the official story” with a large number in the “unsure category”. Near the end, not one was still a firm believer in the official story with a dramatic number (the vast majority) were swayed by the explosive evidence, and were now convinced that there was extremely compelling proof of controlled demolition. Attendees included five architects/engineers as well as about ten journalists, including reporters from one of Japan’s largest newspapers. The event was followed by a reception and all who attended were given the chance to pick up the microphone and express their personal feelings, all very moving, about the 9/11 tragedies.

12/6 in Nagoya: Winning Streak Extended to Three!
Nagoya is Japan’s third largest city and, as home to Toyota, a hub of engineering excellence in Japan. Over 150 packed the conference hall and the audience included five architects/engineers. We were pretty sure that the shutout streak would continue. Of the four people who initially indicated that they were believers in the “official story”, none continued to hold that position at the end of the talk (in the interest of full disclosure, one would-be holdout started to raise his hand indicating he maintained “official story” belief, but then took it down and put himself in the “unsure” category). The final vote indicated about ninety previously unconvinced people now felt the evidence for controlled demolition of WTC high-rises is undeniable. One couple traveled all the way from Fukuoka (a seven hour train ride to hear Richard speak). This was only one example of the passion and support from the attendees. 12/7 at Ritsumeikan University
A different type of audience in an academic setting, Ritsumeikan University is one of Japan’s top private universities, and home to top academics from many disciplines.

Special thanks go out to Professor Fujioka of the school’s Economics Department who helped ensure a large turnout by making Richard’s lecture a class assignment (with a quiz for class credits!). Over 200 students, faculty and local residents were in attendance. This event was different from the others, not only because of the academic environment, but also because it was attended primarily people with no pre-determined position regarding the events of 9/11.

Other events tend to attract interested parties who already suspect that the WTC collapses must have been due to controlled demolition, but Ritsumeikan event included a large number of “official story” believers and an even larger number of “unsure” attendees. While not everyone was fully convinced, only five or six remained believers in the official story and those who came away newly convinced that there must have been controlled demolition were in the vast majority.

So, while not a shutout, this may have been the most meaningful event in delivering knowledge regarding the Truth of 9/11 and giving young people and their faculty the tools to help spread the word via “continuing education”. (Check out these pictures from the event)

Speaking events in Osaka (12/11), Kobe (12/12) and Okinawa (12/13) will round out the tour, and we will provide further updates in coming days.

In closing, we would like to thank all that attended and especially those who have worked so hard to make this such a successful chapter in the unfolding story of 9/11 Truth.

This Monday, I had sold only 120 tickets of the 500 available and prepared myself for a huge loss from this event. I was very anxious as the days moved towards Dec 5th, but 3rd 911 Truth International Conference in Tokyo turned out to be our best event ever. There was so much dedication and love from so many people it is beyond my words. At the end of the reception, Richard said, "This room is full of love and I do 911 truth for love. I have been to so many events and I have never experienced this much dedication and love in my life. Thank you!!"

I know 911 truth is a tough topic to tackle, but people I have met on this journey are just amazing, they fill my heart all the time.

We had about 300 people, 30 volunteers, 10 guests and speakers. The opening address was by Mr. Yukihisa Fujita, a member of the Democratic Party in the Upper House.

The Keynote Speaker was our hero, Rechard Gage, AIA. He is the President of Architect and Engineers for 911 Truth. We then had a panel discussion with prominent journalist Mr. Muneo Narusawa of Weekly Friday. Other guests included Mr. Seiji Kikukawa, Benjamin Fulford, Josef Princiotta, and our biggest supporter Mr. Ganji Okada.

I am off to Nagoya now for Richard's next talk. The doors open at 2pm today at Fukiage Hall in Nagoya. If you don't yet have a ticket you can pay at the door.

Richard Gage is an amazing man!

If you are still wondering whether you should come or not to 3rd 911 Truth International Conference(on Dec 5, 2009 @Zendentsu Hall, Ochanomizu, 10am to 6pm), I highly recommend you do. You only need to hear Richard Gage once to understand how the 3 buildings of WTC came down on Sep 11, 2001.

I was so happy to hear him talk tonight at the opening event for his speaking tour of Japan. His message mirrors mine... Unless we understand what happened on September 11th, 2001, we are destined to experience more such unthinkable acts of inhumanity!

Things have been extremely busy for me with organizing his seven stop tour in Japan as well as the preparation of all the conference material, including a 24 page pamphlet that has never before published Japanese translations of some important scientific studies that will help validate Mr. Gage's presentation. We have also prepared a Japanese version of his DVD, 911, Blueprint for Truth, for conference participants. It will be available for purchase from Jan 19th, 2010.

If we want a world that is safe for all children, where they can live in harmony and happiness, then we are going to have to look carefully at what we have done in the past and what we are doing right now.

Richard Gage arriving for 3rd International 911 Truth Conference

It's December first already. Tomorrow, Richard Gage is arriving in Japan. Mr. Gage has finished a speaking tour in Australia and New Zealand.

In Wellington he had his biggest audience ever, some estimate it to have been close to 1,000! He also was able to meet the son of the architect who designed the Sydney Opera House, Jan Utzon. Mr. Utzon is an architect himself and has signed The Architects And Engineers For 911 Truth petition. I do not support nuclear power generation in general as it creates radiation, which is hazardous for all life on Earth: especially the young, as they are more affected. MOX nuclear power plants are even more dangerous than regular nuclear power plants as they use Plutonium mixed with Uranium 235 as a fuel.

Recently nuclear power has been advertised to be a "Clean Energy" as it doesn't directly 'create' CO2. But it creates a lot of heat that is discarded to the ocean (2/3 of energy created by nuclear power plant are discarded to the ocean).

We must all use less energy (live more simply so that others can simply live!) and support natural and renewable energy sources such as solar, bio-mas, geothermal, small hydro and wind(small scale), and so on.

STOP Plutonium (MOX) Nuclear Power Generation in Japan!

We are collecting endorsements for our petition to stop Japan's first MOX (mixed plutonium uranium oxide) fuel power generation at Japanese commercial nuclear power plants that will start operation on Dec. 2. This first plant is called "Genkai". Please write your name or your group and the country you are working in. The deadline for submission is November 25th.

Over 460,000 signatures have been collected in Japan in order to stop to Genkai's Pluthermal program. Even though we have so many people opposing the plant, the government is still going ahead with its plan.

4th Global Alliance Summit for Ministries and Departments of Peace
San Jose, Costa Rica, Sept. 17-21, 2009

The 4th Global Alliance (GA) Summit was a resounding success with 200 participants attending from more than 40 countries, enhanced by a live streaming video link to the world. The Summit was inspired by Costa Rica's declaration, earlier this month, of a Minister of Justice and Peace, making it the third country in the world to have such a Ministry. The President of Costa Rica, Dr. Oscar Arias, addressed the opening of the Summit, and told us that:

“The task is only just starting; the creation of a Ministry for Peace…is not the final achievement, merely the making of a road to achieve sustainable order that would allow resolution of human conflicts without violence.”

The mission of the GA is to support the establishment of Ministries and Departments of Peace in all nations. The Summit, in order to prepare itself to work with governments to build national infrastructures for peace, heard from experts in the fields of : Unarmed Civilian Peace Services and Youth Engagement in Peacebuilding; Academies for Peace, Restorative Justice Practices; Peace Economics; Innovation in the Use of Media; Nuclear and General Disarmament; Civil Society and Government Cooperation; and, Networking with the UN and Business.

The GA also established strategic direction and an action plan for its next phase and formed a dynamic Leadership Council, with membership from 6 continents, to carry its mission forward, partner with other international sister organizations and plan its next Summit.

Rita Marie Johnson of the Rasur Foundation in Costa Rica, Summit convener, summed up the achievement of the Summit, stating, “The GA members embodied peace as they took a quantum leap toward national peace infrastructures by presenting a detailed picture of hope for the world. We know what to do and we will do it – together in the name of peace.”

The Summit concluded with a determination to witness the formation of at least 2 more Ministries or Departments of Peace by the time of the next Summit to be held in 2011.

I had the privilege to translate and interpret for the Japanese delegates who participated in an International Conference against the Asia Pacific Missile Defense and for the End of the Arms Race held in Seoul, Korea. It was three full days of conferences and visits to military sites. I have learned A LOT. Seeing is believing.

The Asia Pacific Missile Defense budget is now eating up most of the money of the local defense programs. North Korea's satellite launch was used as a way to stifle our voices of concern but we have not been stopped.

I am learning many new things from Bruce Gagnnon who is the head of the Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space. He once was a US soldier in the Air Force during the Vietnam war. The anti-war peace movement during that time had a big effect on him while he was inside the base. He heard the voices of the demonstrators outside of the base and began to change. His story of transformation is both beautiful and inspirational.

Two New Groups for 911 Truth Launched

I have been busy writing and translating a chapter for the new book written by Mr. Yukihisa Fujita, who questioned the official US government's version of what happened on Sept. 11th, 2001 in NY at Japan's Diet (the equivalent of the US Senate) last year in January. Since then, there have been many new groups that have launched websites that question the official 911 story. Recently two new groups were launched that I feel the public needs to be made aware of.

One was initiated by a group of politicians, including Mr. Fujita, called Political Leaders for 911 Truth. Check out their website:

There are so many groups now in the world working for 911 truth and I really hope that President Obama will make an initiative to launch a new completely independent commission to investigate what really happened on Sept. 11th, 2001. The War on Terror still continues today. Innocent people are still getting killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, and all the family victims of 911 and the War on Terror should know the truth.

2nd 911 Truth Conference Report

The 2nd 911 Truth International Conference that was held on Nov 3, 2008 at Miyakezaka Hall, right smack in the middle of Japan's political center, Nagata-cho (need I mention that other than Mr. Yukihisa Fujita, no other members of the Japanese Diet attended). In total more than 500 people attended the 10 hour session. Our distinguished 911 Truth speakers included Dr. David Ray Griffin, Akira Dojimaru, Yukihisa Fujita (a House of Councilors member of Japanese Diet), Benjamin Fulford (ex-Forbes editor/writer), and Muneo Narusawa (editorial writer of Shukan Kinyobi - Weekly Friday magazine).

There were three sections in the event...

During the first section I showed 911 Truth related films and gave a talk. I started my presentation by with a short slide show titled War and the Imperial History of Middle East. Next I let the audience watch a excerpt of the session at the Japanese Diet (Parliament) on January 10th, 2008 where Mr. Fujita questioned the Prime Minister on the legality of Japan's role in the current wars in the Middle East. I should add that his session in Parliament was not reported in the mainstream media and a month or two back it was nominated as number 24 in the top 25 Censored Stories for 2008 in the world! (Click here to check my blog post about this.).

After that I played excerpts from the following movies: 911 In Plane Site, Reopen 911, 911 Eyewitness, Loose Change 2nd Edition and Press for Truth. As many people are not aware of the explosions that occurred in the WTC Towers that were reported by various US TV stations on the day and never rebroadcast again, I made sure the audience was made aware of this very important fact.

I also showed the audience the rather suspicious live BBC report of the 'collapse' of World Trade Center Building 7. I say suspicious as the BBC reported it collapsed 20 or 30 minutes before it actually was 'pulled' or should I say 'demolished'! Next I screened the controversial interview of Aaron Russo that was made by Alex Jones just before Aaron passed away. I then played a preview of the yet to be released movie Addicted To War as well as a short video of an anti-war march in San Francisco where I made a speech about the Japanese version of Addicted To War. Finally I showed a slide show about the terrible conditions Iraqi children face today. It was made by a 15 year old American girl, and is titled WWJF (What Would Jesus Do?).

I gave thirty minutes of my session to Aoki Hidekazu, who is the author of the Japanese book 'The Collapse of Money' [Okane Houkai]. He explained the relationship between 911, The War on Terror and the current financial crisis. It was very informative and interesting.

The next Speaker was Akira Doujimaru, who is also known by his pseudonym, Love from Barcelona. He has written an amazingly easy-to understand book and has a homepage on collapse of the WTC Towers. After a one hour lunch break, Dr. David Ray Griffin gave a lecture titled 'The New Pearl Harbor Revisited: 9/11, The Cover-Up, and the Exposé'. The lecture was translated to Japanese by Gen Morita and lasted over two hours. It was followed by a 30 minute question and answer session. He included material from all of his 911 books; The New Pearl Harbor, The 911 Commission Report - Omissions and Distortions, Debunking 9/11 Debunking, The Contradictions - An Open Letter Letter to the Congress and the Press, and The New Pearl Harbor Revisited. He also spoke of the latest developments in the 911 Truth Movement and the ever increasing numbers of scholars and professionals that now include architects, engineers, physicists, chemists, veterans, Hollywood entertainers and so on that have joined the 911 Truth Movement. Now it is time for political leaders to take action, he says.

The 3rd part of the program was a Panel Discussion with Yukihisa Fujita, Akira Dojimaru, Muneo Narusawa, and Benjamin Fullford. The Q&A session lasted more than one hour with a long line of participants waiting to ask their questions. As the coordinator, it was a tough job to get everyone's questions answered, but happily I can say I managed to get them all taken care of.

The conference ended with the speakers signing books, then 77 guests and staff spent another 2 hours at the farewell party for Dr. Griffin.

Dr. Griffin told me by email later that his week in Japan was one of the best weeks in his whole life.

Our 2nd 911 Truth International Conference was a great success with over 500 people attending. Some of the attendees came from as far away as Kyushu. Of course, two of our guest speakers, Dr. Ray Griffin and Akira Doujimaru came from the US and Spain to participate! The all day event went very smoothly and most of the participants stayed till the end, a full 10 hours! Some even stayed a further two hours for the reception party.

Mr. Fujita's questions on 9/11 chosen as No. 24 in the Top 25 Censored Stories

Project Censored chose the Top 25 censored stories for 2009 and amazingly, one Japanese story is in the list. (I guess it is not so amazing actually, as I know all too well about the mainstream media censorship that goes on in Japan...).

Anyway, the story that was chosen about a topic that I am very involved in!

Parliament member Mr. Yukihisa Fujita asked questions to Mr. Fukuda, who was at that time the Prime Minister of Japan. The questions concerned not only the inconsistencies in the official version of what happened on Sept. 11th., but also debated the ethics of renewing Japan's 'anti-terror law' which supports the coalition forces operating in Afghanistan. Mr. Fujita pointed out that the US has not provided credible information that links al-Qaeda to Sept 11th.

The parliamentary session was broadcast by NHK TV live but not one newspaper or TV program even mentioned it that day or in the days following. To this day, almost no one in Japan knows about it!

There was and still is a total media blackout despite the importance of Mr. Fujita's questions!!

The Truth Can Move Us Forward

America must move from the errant, retributive justice of 9/11 to a healing, restorative process of truth and reconciliation.

Before the Congress adjourns, I will bring forth a new proposal for the establishment of a National Commission on Truth and Reconciliation, which will have the power to compel testimony and gather official documents to reveal to the American people not only the underlying deception which has divided us, but in that process of truth seeking set our nation on a path of reconciliation.

We suffer in our remembrance of 9/11, because of the terrible loss of innocent lives on that grim day. We also suffer because 9/11 was seized as an opportunity to run a political agenda, which has set America on a course of the destruction of another nation and the destruction of our own Constitution. And we have become less secure as a result of the warped practice of pursing peace through the exercise of pre-emptive military strength.

It is not simply 9/11 that needs to be remembered. We also need to remember the politicization of 9/11 and the polarizing narrative which followed, locking us into endless conflict, a war on terror which has wrought further terror worldwide and which has severely damaged our standing worldwide as an honorable, compassionate nation. As we were all victims of 9/11, so we have become victims of the interpretation of 9/11.

Our government's external response to 9/11 was to attack a nation which did not attack us. Indeed on the first anniversary of 9/11, the Bush Administration issued a well-publicized stern warning to Iraq, which was part of a campaign to induce people to believe Iraq had something to do with 9/11.

The deliberate, systematic connection of Iraq with 9/11 has led America into a philosophical and moral cul-de-sac as over one million Iraqis and over 4,155 US soldiers have died in a war that will cost over $3 trillion. Additionally, soldiers from twenty-three other countries have died in the Iraq war.

We attempt to unite Iraq by further dividing it. We talk about restoring Iraq while taking steps to place control of its vast oil wealth in the hands of US oil giants. And we intend to impose upon the Iraqi people the cost of rebuilding a country our government ruined, keeping a once-prosperous nation lashed to debt and poverty for a long, long time. Iraq has paid for 9/11. We all continue to pay for 9/11.

The heartbreaking loss of the lives and injuries to America troops further binds us to the Administration's illogic of the Iraq War: We remember our troops' sacrifice by demanding more sacrifice; we support our troops by continuing the war.

The dominant color of our new national security since 911 is neither red, white nor blue. Every day is orange. Every day, reminders of fear of 9/11 become banal. Yet we no longer hear the airport announcements nor see the orange-colored warnings because they have commonplace standards in our new national security state, as is the Patriot Act, wiretapping, and a host of invasions of privacy and diminution of civil liberties. The Constitution has been roundly attacked by the very people who took an oath to defend it.

There is a powerful desire across America for change, not necessarily from control by one political party to another, but a change from living with lies to living with truth.

Over two dozen nations, facing peril within and without, deeply divided by politics and war have travelled down a path of restoring civil society through a formal process of reconciliation. At some point within each of those countries it was understood that the way forward is shown through the light of truth. This process is not without pain because it requires a willingness to study evidence from which eyes had been averted and ears had been closed. But in the process of truth and reconciliation, nations found new strength, new resolve, and new commitment.

The South African Truth and Reconciliation enabled that nation to come to grips with its past through a public confessional, bringing forward those who committed crimes and having the power to grant amnesty for full disclosure of crimes against the people. Of course, our path may necessarily be different: High US government officials stand accused in impeachment petitions of violating national and international law. Our continued existence as a democracy may depend upon how thoroughly we seek the truth. I will call upon the America people to join me in supporting this effort.

The truth can move us forward, as a unified whole, so that we can one day become a re-United States. 9/11 is the day the world changed. It is the day America embraced a metaphor of war. If we are open to truth and reconciliation, we may one day be able, once again, to embrace peace.

Today here in Tokyo Japan, Benjamin Fulford, Yukihisa Fujita and myself took part in a 911 Truth Event on this seventh anniversary of the Sept. 11th, 2001. We had a full house with over 200 people attending!

As Benjamin mentioned during his talk today, as terrible as the events of Sept. 11th were, in reality, they were needed to wake the world up from the dangerous slumber it was in. Prior to 911, virtually no one was aware of the nefarious behind the scenes manipulation of local and global events for the benefit or corporations, the military and the wealthy elite.

I myself began to realize something was not quite right with the official 911 story about three years after Sept. 11th, 2001. Since then I have continued my research and now know that Sept. 11th was just one of many, many events that were planned in advance in order to manipulate and control the fabric of society for the benefit of the elite and the businesses they control!

Sept 11th was used to manipulate us into believing that extremists from Afghanistan and Iraq were behind the attacks in New York and the only way to stop them from doing the same again was to invade, attack and control their countries. In the years that have passed since the war started over 4,000 US soldiers have been killed, with some 30,000 wounded. As for the Iraqi's, some estimates put their death toll at over a million...

We now know that Sept. 11th was not carried out by 19 terrorists wielding box cutters! How gullible we were to believe that they could defeat not once, but four times on the same day, the most sophisticated military and security forces in the world!

How gullible were we to believe that two steel towers that were built to handle hurricane force winds for months at a time could collapse in their own footprints in less than ten seconds, an hour or so after they were struck by the planes!

Tokyo Peace Film Festival This Week!

It is my great pleasure and joy to announce and invite you to the 5th Tokyo Peace Film Festival, which starts on Friday July 18th, 2008 at 7:15pm with the film 'Iraq For Sale' (In English with Japanese subtitles).

Effects of Nuclear Energy in a Quiet Japanese Town

Since the age of nuclear energy first began, both proponents and opponents have yet to agree on whether its benefits outweigh its potential dangers. Come and explore this controversy, on July 12th and 13th, 2008, The Surfrider Foundation Oahu Chapter will be presenting the documentary film “Rokkasho Rhapsody” at the University of Hawaii Spalding Auditorium in collaboration with its Japan Chapter.

Rokkasho, a village in Northern Japan, is now the center of international attention with the completion of the newest and largest Nuclear Waster Power Reprocessing Plant in the world completed in 2004 and expected to become fully operational this summer. A reprocessing plant differs from a nuclear power plant in that it does not generate electricity; instead it recycles the waste fuel from a nuclear reactor. It extracts up to 97% of its plutonium and uranium for reuse that would otherwise lay in perpetual storage potentially leaching into our environment.

Proponents believe recycling these radioactive materials is a prudent idea due to the high volume of recyclable material obtained through the reprocessing process, opponents argue that it comes with irrevocable environmental consequences. According to nuclear experts, in one day alone the discharge from this reprocessing plant will equal a year's worth of radiation produced by a typical nuclear power plant that will quickly disperse into our atmosphere and ocean.

In Rokkasho, the debate continues. The town has become dependent on the economic stimulus that the plant has provided through direct employment and by supporting local businesses, ensuring a future that once did not seem so bright. Rokkasho’s youth no longer leave their small community of 11,000 seeking prosperity and a better way of life elsewhere. And yet there are those who recognize and are concerned about the cost of living with radioactive exposure and the loss of traditional agricultural farming that their town was once dependent upon.

Through “Rokkasho Rhapsody,” director Kamanaka Hitomi patiently and respectfully looks at both sides of the issue. Organizers of this documentary film presentation hope to provide information about the Rokkasho Reprocessing Plant, and also to encourage discussion and bring attention to the world’s future energy sources, how much risk is acceptable, and how the Rokkasho Reprocessing Plant might affect Hawaii in the event of an industrial incident.

It’s not in our backyard, but the effects are profound and awareness is key.

Article 9 Conference a HUGE success!

The Global Article 9 Conference to Abolish War was held on May 4th and 5th at Makuari Messe International Conference Center. All of us here in Japan had been hearing very little about this conference in the mainstream media and the organizers were worried that the event would not get anywhere close to capacity. They need not have worried! It turned out that more than 12,000 people tried to get into the 7,000 capacity hall for the opening ceremony and keynote speeches. (I am told that the total number of attendees over the three days of the event was close to 22,000!)

On the first day, I was one of 3000 people who were turned away from the main hall, but I had two booths at the event, one for the Tokyo Peace Film Festival, the other for JUMP (Japan United for Ministry of Peace) so I spent all day at the many different booths where all the other peace NGOs were hanging out. I had a great time there and I was so happy there were so many people at the conference. This may have been a record breaker in Japan's NGO history. To have so many attendees with almost no coverage (assistance!) from the mainstream media in my mind is truly an amazing (record breaking) grass roots achievement...

To me this means that we have now become the MEDIA ourselves!

We gathered this enormous number of people by word of mouth, the internet and handing out flyers and so on.

Isn't that something?!

I met so many of my friends but there were new faces, especially those of people in their 20s and 30s. I was very moved to see so many young people there.

On the 2nd day (May 5th) I spoke at the Article 9 Cinema. I showed excerpts from the film 'What I've Learned About US Foreign Policy' in a room that too was overcapacity. I knew I would have some people in my audience but had not expected that many people as there were other interesting symposiums and workshops happening at the same time. It was amazing! People were queuing up to get in long before my session was to start.

I had only one hour, so I couldn't show the whole film nor did I have enough time to talk about it in detail. The excerpts I chose were The School of the Americas, Panama Deception and Ramsey Clark's talk. After my show all the DVDs that I had brought were sold out in a flash!!

That evening I invited Yuri Morita, who is active in the children's abuse and domestic violence issue, to stay at my home. We had a great time together. We peace workers need to have quality time with like minded people from time to time, otherwise we can get burned out...

I was so happy about the success of Global Article 9 Conference but at the same time, right now wars are going on in many areas of the world. I should mention that the Japan Air Self-Defense Force still remains in Iraq and continues to support the US forces. We are helping with the transportation of the servicemen and women as well as weapons. On each day of the conference we Japanese were actually involved in the fighting of a war. I hope you now realize that Article 9 is in great danger!

The success of the Global Article 9 Conference was just the first of many steps we need to take to regain the power that Article 9 has lost in recent years. Each one of us must keep working to strengthen Article 9 so that it becomes a powerful beacon of hope for all of humanity, so that one day Peace May Prevail On Earth!

It is up to each one of us to make Article 9 the shining light it should be.

My dear friend Aska will be playing on Monday May 5th at the Global Article 9 Conference Workshop (details below). I will be there as one of audience.

After the concert, I will be speaking at Article 9 Cinema, which will be at Conference Room 302 on the 3rd floor of Makuhari Messe between the screening of What I've Learned about US Foreign Policy: War Against the 3rd World (screening will be starting at 2:40). Aska Kaneko
Born in Tokyo, Aska Kaneko began playing the violin at age four, and started to perform professionally while attending the Tokyo University of the Arts. She has played in countless numbers of music sessions spanning numerous genres, and has released a total of 17 albums. She continues to receive accolades for her outstanding technique, rich musical expression, and playfully elegant style. Aska's most recent album is Ave (2007), a multi-lingual collaboration where she explores themes of peace along with several international guest artists. She also regularly facilitates children's workshops, and produces music for use in energy work. Her personal pursuits include researching the Mayan calendar, bodywork such as yoga and Tai Chi, and organic cooking. Signed to independent Japanese label Suzuki Records, Ben Kemp & Uminari are creating a unique musical fusion as they forge new territory both musically and culturally. Born in London, Peter Barakan has lived in Tokyo since 1974 and has worked in broadcasting since 1980. My Interview at Ron Paul Revolution Radio!

I had the pleasure of talking with two wonderful hosts, Indy and Thomas, from the Ron Paul Radio Show on April 6th.

I talked about my life here in Kamogawa, how I got involved with the 9/11 Truth movement and what we can do to stop the war and create a more sustainable and peaceful future.

They plan to interview me again soon and I will be very happy to do so. The mainstream media is not covering our efforts to expose the truth on what really happened on 911, so I feel that we must now use the internet and other alternative media to spread the truth.

Alex Jones Interviews Yukihasa Fujita

In an outstanding 15 minute interview yesterday on the Alex Jones Show, Mr. Yukihisa Fujita suggested that a new investigation into the events of Sept. 11th, 2001 needs to be carried out, perhaps this time by the United Nations. He said that some other European parliamentarians feel the same way as himself.

Slowly but surely, people from all walks of life are realizing that the official story just does not add up. Later on in yesterdays interview Mr. Fujita ironically stated that the internet was an invention by the military, but now citizens are making the best use of it to learn the truth, implying that the military itself was involved in the events of 911.

Until the age of the internet, such crimes could remain hidden, but no longer...

Today here in Japan Mr. Fujita is currently reporting to his party about his recent experiences and research on the 911 coverup in Europe and Australia.

Mr. Fujita is a courageous individual and an inspiration for us all! I urge you to follow his lead and learn for yourself and then spread the word, “911 was an inside job!“, as many are now saying.

Japanese Magazine Covers Fujita's Visit to Screening of ZERO!

The Japanese weekly magazine SPA! with a circulation of well over 200,000, has published a six page article that I coauthored on Mr. Yukihisa Fujita's 911 truth visit to Europe. (Mr. Fujita is a member of the House of Councillers in the Japanese Parliament)

Unfortunaltly SPA! is only available Japanese, nevertheless this is a great thing as the Japanese media has stonewalled all of his recent 911 related activities. This story in Spa! gives the background and detail to his visit to the Europe to attend the premier of the film ‘ZERO, an investigation into the events of 9/11’. Earlier this year in January, in a session in the Japanese parliament, Mr. Fujita expressed his doubts as to the official US account of what happened on Sept. 11th 2001 and the consequent use of the event as an 'excuse' to join the US in the 'War on Terror'. There was a virtual blackout in the Japanese mainstream media of his courageous and well thought out questions and presentation. I am told there was a short article (one or two paragraphs in length) that appeared in one newspaper, but the story was not mentioned anywhere else! (You can see a subtitled version of the questions he asked here)

Two weeks ago, Mr. Fujita visited Australia as a keynote speaker at the Oz 2008 911 Truth Conference. Once again there was no mention in the Japanese media, or, for that matter, in the Australian media. (Read my previous blog on his Australian visit)

It is painfully obvious that the mainstream media is no longer a the clarion of truth and justice it is supposed to be. TV, radio and newspapers have become the mouthpiece of corporations and the military industrial complex that now rule the world. If you want to know what is really going on in the world, it is time you started looking at the alternative media news sources on the internet, including mathaba.net and the Alex Jones website.
